9. What to do with an ugly rack?

The Fairy Forest wall is magical, the grassy meadow below is ever-so-whimsical and lush; whatever shall I do about that protruding rack!?

In my mind I imagine ivy and flowers draping down, effortlessly blending with the colorful backdrop that's already in place. But how am I going to camouflage that shiny, bright white eyesore? Maybe I could paint it so it would blend in with the greenery I had planned. But that could be messy, painting it with the tapestry and carpet already in place. Plus, when it came time to change the forest ambiance to some other dream setting - or even sell the house - the paint could create challenges.
Light bulb moment! 💡 I could create the same effect by wrapping the wire with green floral tape! Made of paper with a waxy coating, the tape would allow complete coverage, but could be removed at any time. And it was available at the dollar store! Perfect. And simple, right?

Yes and no. It worked great, and only cost a couple of dollars. But I quickly discovered this rather tedious task had to be done in short bursts over time, thanks to my rather uncooperative and rebellious shoulder and arm muscles. Heavy sigh.
Due to the rather painstaking (and I mean that literally!) effort that would be required to do every single wire in the grid work that composes the shelves and clothes racks, I opted to do only the ones that would be directly visible. To camouflage the area above the shelf, and to maintain the area as usable storage space, I headed back to Google to research the availability and cost of putting up some kind of curtain rod with short green drapes.
At 96" wide, I wasn't sure I could find a rod that would stretch the full width, be easy to install and fit the limited budget. But, once again Google came through for me. An extendable shower curtain rod with simple anchors at each end, at a minimal cost. Success!
On to the curtains. After many hours of research, I opted for dark green curtains with a gold leaf motif in 18" valance length. Cheaper than the solid green curtains I had been searching for, I hoped they would blend in with the fairy-lit greenery I had planned.

Fingers crossed.
